The Only 4 Body Lotions I’d Buy Again
For the past year, I’ve been deep in a personal mission: finding the perfect body lotion. It may sound a little obsessive but if you know me, you know this isn’t just skincare… it’s nostalgia, routine, and a little bit of ritual.
I’ve been using body lotion since I was 10 years old. Growing up in Poland, I played volleyball almost every day for 8 years. After every practice, we’d hit the pool. And if you’ve ever swum daily, you know your skin needs moisture. Back then, it was Nivea or nada! We didn’t have aisles of options in the '80s in Eastern Europe!
Fast forward a few decades, my skin started to change, and I was struggling to find something that worked. I’m low-maintenance when it comes to my routine, so I need products that are effective, easy to apply, non-greasy, non-staining, and ideally fragrance-free (my skin gets irritated and my nose is picky). Bonus points if they come in smart packaging.
And guess what? I think I finally found the combo and it’s probably not what you expected.
01. The Unexpected Star
Mustela Hydra Bébé Body Lotion — $16
Found at the Geneva Airport Pharmacy! I grabbed this baby lotion on a whim during a layover, just needed something travel-sized and simple. But weeks later, people started stopping me after Pilates to ask what I’m using for my skin. My skin felt nourished and looked glowy (without being greasy), and it smells so clean. 10/10
Note: This one does have a soft baby-like scent, so I don’t mix it with perfume.
02. Targeted Tightening
Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Sculptor — $98
I use this one strategically, on elbows, knees, and buttocks. It’s made to sculpt and firm, and honestly… it works. It’s a great addition to a routine if you want to focus on tone and texture in certain areas. I use it daily!
03. The Perfume-Free One
OneSkin OS-01 Body Lotion — $99
This one is fragrance-free and the texture is perfection, light but deeply hydrating. I use it on days when I want my perfume to do the talking. It spreads beautifully and doesn’t leave a film. A solid everyday choice! 10/10
04. The Luxe Pick (With a Catch)
GOOPGENES Nourishing repair body butter — $65
Okay, this one is amazing. The texture is rich, the hydration lasts, and it’s a true skin treat. But for me, the small size and steep price point make it more of a splurge. Also… long nails + tiny spoon = not my vibe.
I’ve tried over a dozen lotions this past year (some of which made it to my Instagram story), but these are the few that passed the test of daily use! If you are in your 40s try them! You will notice a difference in your skin within 2 weeks! I PROMISE!
And now I want to hear from you, do you have a body lotion you swear by?
Drop it in the comments below, I’m always curious.
xx,
Monika
