She's Number 1

1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Ceta is ONE of those women.

I know, this is jaw dropping news to hear. It was jaw dropping when she went in on October 31st (the last day of breast cancer awareness month) to get a mammogram and ultrasound. Her doctor confirmed that what she found during a self exam was, in fact, a lump. Her head has been spinning since then. What should have been a routine mammogram and ultrasound, ended up being a biopsy on two areas the same day. On November 4th, one month to the day of her self exam, she received the devastating news that both biopsied areas were positive. She has Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.

Want to hear the irony? She joined the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation board in April to help bring awareness and raise money for OTHER women with breast cancer. Who knew she would be one of those women. Joining the board saved her life. She realized that she had not gotten a mammogram in 3 years, prompting her to perform a self check exam and finding a lump. Early detection is key!

Ceta, this came as a shock to all of us. I will be there for you every step of the way, we all will. Your strength inspires me as you have always been my hero! You are a smiling light for my heart and mind, and we will fight this together! I know that you are stronger than anything and will face this with pride and determination. I love you to the moon and back.
